When we summarize the Achievements of the Year for Nordic Vikings Players…
We give the “Award” to Defenseman Lucas Nordsäter Björklöven, for a really solid season and instrumental in Björklövens Promotion to SHL. Lucas is always 100% from the start of the season to the end and a real Teamplayer. He is might not the biggest piontmaker but a type of Defenseman that all Teams need if they want to go to promotion. This year it is the second time he has been promoted to SHL, but he has also been instrumental for Teams who have avoided relegations in 2 or 3 seasons.
Runner up this year is Carl Wassenius – starting season slow in DIV 1 for Huddinge but came to Hudiksvall a Top Team after Christmas and added another + 50 points season on his belt (5th in Row). Hudiksvall went the whole way to the final games against Visby, and finally lost it – in a game when Hudiksvall played a net of 19 Minutes in Boxplay. Well things happen also in Sweden when people get to nervous and the pressure and mob became to hard – close but not enough
In contension also John Wedin Majadahonda who lost the 5th game on penalties against the La Liga Champions Jaca – close but not enough.
Regarding IIHF DIV 1 B – Congrats to Estonia for Promotion in WC 1B, Spain and China for staying in WC 1B
I think all Teams in the Group got an “Easter Egg Gift” before the Tournament this year and where Lucky to Stay due to that IIHF decided to not drop any Team this year. However with one round to go we could probably congratulate Estonia to their Promotion. Regarding the Tournament it was pretty clear that Estonia, Romania and might Korea should be in the Top, but both Korea and China has put in some good games in the middle. Spain vs Netherlands in the last round will determine place 5 or 6.
The Tournament will end after the Weekend but for me Romania and Estonia was the favourites, with Korea as a runner up – with a talented and skilful play, but like China they might are too soft for going the whole way mentally. I think Spain has doing quite well due to a tuff start against Estonia and the players have mostly put a lot into it in the fighting spirit and battle quite well. If you take away the play in some of the second periods they has been just outside the top Teams. For me both Spain and China has something to think of for the future, some parts in their game but mostly mentally.
