Starting with Congrats to USA Champions in both Men and Woman for their Olympic Gold… I think the Canadian goalies played well – but they were actually topped by the USA Goalies this time. Finland (Men) and Swiss(Woman) really earned their medals in different ways, with Slovakia (Men) and Sweden (Woman) as surprised runner up…
It was many tight games in the Olympics and in Men’s Tournament Sweden lost against USA on overtime (QF). I think Czech (QF) and Finland (SF) was both robbed by tuff decisions by the NHL referee against Canada, so in a way it was logical that USA won it. The Swiss lost a game they already should have won against Finland (QF)… In Woman Tournament both Finland against Swiss and Czech against Sweden outplayed their opponent but lost. The Offensive play is always fun to watch and the speed Canada and USA play with is always exciting – but the balanced defensive play took many victories in the Olympics and the game without the puck is always there and important… And when the Canadian stars in the Men’s Overtime in the Final forgot the basics the Tournament was settled.
As we have many Spanish Friends we also congratulate Spain and Oriol Cardona Coll for their first Olympic Gold medal (Ski Mountaineering) since 1972 when Francisco Frenandez Ochoa from Granada won the gold Medal in Slalom. The Legend Ochoa has also named a Rink in Valdemoro Madrid.
In Meantime – La Liga Hielo Regular Season is now settled – PUIGCERDÀ won the Regular Season and Majadahonda and Txuri settled their spots in Play Off – so now we have to see if the outsider Majadahonda could do anything against the favourite Jaca in the Semifinal.
Next – Semifinal in Madrid between Majadahonda Woman, who won the regular Season of la Liga, and Txuri 28 February .. and might 1 March – when we in Sweden has the famous Vasaloppet…
Next – Semifinal Play Off Men in Madrid between Jaca and Majadahonda 7 and might also 8 March. Two first games played in Jaca 28 February and 1 March before Majadahonda will play their home games in Madrid 7 and might also 8 March.
